Alan R. LeCoursPartner
Alan LeCours received his B.S. in Mathematics and Psychology from Plattsburgh State University in 1980, and his J.D. from Western New England School of Law in 1983. He was a visiting student at Albany Law School in 1982-83. A member of the New York State Bar since 1984, he was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York in 1987. He was a founding member of LeCours, Chertok & Yates, LLP, in April 2005. He is a member of the New York Bar Association and the Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association.
Bankruptcy Law comprises approximately 50 percent of Mr. LeCours' practice. Other areas of practice include Real Property Closings; Criminal Defense; DWI Defense; Traffic Defense; Representation of Personal Injury Plaintiffs.
Mr. LeCours is a member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, and sings in the choir. He is an avid chess player, and has achieved a United States Chess Federation expert rating. He is currently President of the Saratoga Springs Chess Club, organizes a scholastic chess club in the Dorothy Nolan School in Saratoga Springs, and is active in directing adult and scholastic chess tournaments. He also enjoys bowling, singing, and playing the saxophone.
